Karen and Joe Santelli have been in the remodeling business for 30 years, acting as General Contractors and Custom Cabinet Makers. As a result of Joe following in his father’s footstep in making cabinetry and millwork and their love for what they do, they have been instrumental in the design and fabrication of countless award-winning kitchens, baths and custom millwork. Their work is on display at the Chicago Merchandise Mart and has been featured on HGTV and numerous publications such as Kitchen Trend Magazine.
The Santelli’s pride themselves in being able to fabricate anything that a client can dream of, from custom cabinetry to furniture such as dining room tables, bench and beds. "I hired Karen and Joe Santelli of D&S Construction and Santelli Custom Cabinetry as the general contractors to gut rehab my condominium which was in it's original condition from the early 1960s. The project timeline was an ambitious 12 weeks to rip out the floors, tear down walls and completely re-design and install 2 1/2 bathrooms, the kitchen and one of the bedrooms with a new built-in walk-in closet. Santelli made all of the cabinets for the kitchen, bathroom vanities and closet built-ins for the walk-in master closet and the closets in the second bedroom. Everyone said it couldn't be done and that I was looking at a 6 - 9 month construction site. Well, they finished the job in 13 weeks and the delay was caused by the City which held up our permits for two weeks. They were a pleasure to work with, extremely responsive and responsible and I couldn't be happier. Karen and Joe had some great ideas, were very flexible and accommodated all of my tweaks to our plans without missing a beat."

"I hired Karen, a co-owner of Santelli Custom Cabinetry, to help design and completely remodel our bathroom. Karen's design ideas were phenomenal. In order to open up our small bathroom she came up with the idea of taking a little space from an adjoining closet and inserting a custom unit into the bathroom wall. The built-in unit--fabricated by Santelli Custom Cabinetry--included a combination of shelves and self-closing drawers. She also suggested installing a wall-mounted toilet that would make the space feel bigger and be more in keeping with the modern look that we wanted to achieve. The third exceptional idea came from Karen's husband Joe who typically oversees the on-site construction. We were converting a bathtub into a full shower but the ceiling of our bathroom is very low and our association does not allow new drain holes to be drilled in the concrete floor. The result was that with an ordinary drain we would need to do a build-up such that my head would have been touching the ceiling. Joe circumvented this problem by having a custom drain fabricated. In terms of design sense, creativity, and problem-solving, Karen and Joe are outstanding. We were very happy with the craftsmanship of the cabinets as well. The final result of our bathroom remodel exceeded our expectations."
